Pexagon unveils two Portable USB Hard Drives

Monday, November 06, 2006

Pexagon has made available the latest versions of its Portable USB Hard Drive. The Pexagon Store-It 1.8″ USB Hard Drive is smaller and lighter that the previous version but this improvement does not come at the price of disk space.

Pexagon has on sale two different version of the Store-It 1.8″ USB Hard Drive: one holds 20GB of data (its price is set to $139.99) while the second is able to store even 60GB ($199.99). The small size does not influence the resistance against accidentals bumps because the external case of the drive is made of rugged extruded aluminium.

These two versions have inside a Hitachi Travelstar hard drive so you should not worry about a possible drive failure because Hitachi is one of the best on the market.

Pexagon also thought about usage easiness by using the EZ-Touch Button Backup system and the Retrospect backup software. The former allows the user to start the backup process by simply pressing a button on the Pexagon Store-It 1.8″ USB Hard Drive.

The latter instead takes care of the data handling. It is able to backup data coming from multiple sources and can also automatically determine the changes made after the last backup. In this way the process will require less time and there will not be the risk of double copies (if you choose do not want them obviously).

Security is also taken in consideration because the Pexagon system also allows the user to protect the data with a password and even encrypt the whole content. The software allows also the user to schedule unattended backups and automatic backup verifications to ensure the safeness of the data.

Lastly the Pexagon Store-It 1.8″ USB Hard Drive works on all systems that have a USB port (be it Windows or Mac). This is possible thanks to the use of the FAT32 as the default drive format.
