Mini LCD display from AlphacoolFriday, October 20, 2006 In the last few years the increased availability of high quality video cards with multiple outputs is expanding the market of dual monitor system. Having an extra display comes handy when the number of open application is high or there is the need to monitor at the same time more than one process. While a dual display system is a great solution it requires some extra space though. What can we do if we do not have the physical space to put two monitors on the same desk? Alphacool comes to help with a brilliant solution: a small 240x128 Pixel blue/negative LCD display. The monitor can be placed near the bigger display and can be used to check extra informations coming from the system or from the Internet. For example the included software, available in several languages and updateable from the Internet, can monitor: system data or temperatures, RSS-feeds, email statistics, networking statistics and a lot more. If you have the space for two displays but you like the concept of a smaller monitor to check the important data you can still use the Alphacool display. Since the monitor must be connected to a personal computer or notebook (with the included three meters USB cable) the video card outputs are not used. In the future you can use a dual display system while still continuing to use the Alphacool monitor. The latter is compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1. The display case has been designed with robustness in mind and can be used both vertically and horizontally. The Alphacool display is only 1 cm thick, weighs 350g and is available on the Alphacool website for 129.90 euro ($166).
